Summer's End

The end of Summer mark's a turn in the road. Not just for back to school and the seeming end of sunshine, but a feeling in our hearts. That time moves quickly. Season's whiz by. Seemingly faster and faster each year. And a reminder to ourselves to stop and breathe. To enjoy. To make each moment count. To live fully in these last few days of sweet Summer.

Fashion Archive

{ via }

The private archives of Diane von Furstenberg were recently accessed by Natalie Joos. Diane is not just the master of the wrap dress, but of prints, and we are decidedly thrilled about the resulting photo shoot. Natalie's showcase includes archives combined with current season favorites. The mix of pattern and print is one of our favorite things.

Tea Party

{ via 1 // 2 // 3 }

We are planning a tea party. A soiree of sorts. With pink flowers, fresh fruit and petite pastries. In a home, a beautiful country home, surrounded by fleur. And we'll wear our Castelbel & Trumpet collection.

Wellness Travel

{ via 1 // 2 // 3 }

There's something going around these days. About wellness travel. The idea of selecting a spa destination to restore and rejuvenate life's balance. And while there's nothing new about a vacation, wellness travel is much more particular. More specific about the destination. A spa.

We discovered this trend recently from our customer, Joelle. She recently returned from her wellness trip and wrote to us regarding our robe she took along with her. We were so excited to hear about her trip and how much she enjoyed wearing our robe during her down time and spa services.

Thank you Joelle!

Max Wanger

Bri at Design Love Fest is running a giveaway for a Max Wanger print. Those familiar with Max Wanger Photography know how brilliant he is in terms of creating an interesting composition as well as capturing both vibrant color and movement. We love that about Max. He also captures stunning weddings and portraits.

Featured here is Max's art. We love how it looks in Bri's dining room.

Cotton Voile

{ via }

Many of our Plum Pretty Sugar items are created using cotton voile fabric. It gives our brand life because of it beautiful whisper-soft quality, lightweight feeling and really shapes and molds itself to individual curves. And, it washes like heaven getting softer and softer with each cycle.

A little bit about cotton voile taken from Wikipedia, eHow, Ask and more:
  • Voile is a soft fabric usually made of 100% cotton or cotton blends,
  • Cotton is one of the world's oldest fibers, according to America's Cotton Producers and Importers, dating back more than 5,000 years to India.
  • Cotton voile (pronounced "foil") is a versatile fabric for both clothing and home decor. It is lightweight and sheer, and drapes in delicate folds.
  • Cotton voile is created with high-twist yarns in a high yarn-count construction. It is crisp, lightweight and has a semi-transparent plain weave.

Polka Dot

{ via }

The polka dot. What seems initially as a simple design element has been filling our minds here Plum Pretty Sugar with a sense of fun and heightened awareness for shape and color. The polka dot is much more complicated than at first it seems. And we love that. We love using it in our marketing materials and in our offices. Getting it just right however... it just takes time.

London Calling

{ via 1 // 2 }

Often we travel at here at this Plum Pretty Sugar brand. Sometimes for business, other times for pleasure. Currently London is pulling at our heart strings.

Perhaps the birth of the recent royal baby, perhaps the "Beatles" concert some of us saw recently or perhaps just a yearning for a pink old car on the wrong side of the road and delicious little shops full of trinkets and treasures. Whatever the case, the UK has our current craving for travel and inspiration wound up tight and fully drawn.

We wonder, is there enough time for last minute trip. This Summer... or better yet this Fall.

Newborn Story

{ via 1 // 2 }

This month is National Breast Feeding Awareness month. A series of thirty one days it feels important to note and to really celebrate.

As a brand we feel grateful and very joyful to have the opportunity to share in a woman's pregnancy and newborn story. Our Plum Pretty Sugar robes and lounge pants are often the pretty comfort of choice. And its the kindness we receive from new Moms that often moves us and brings us to tears. About the moment in the middle of the night breast feeding a sweet newborn and the love they feel. There in solace, a baby at their skin and beautiful in one of our robes.

Being Present

{ via 1 // 2 }

We've been reflecting on this for some time. The idea of being centered and present at any given time. So often we find our thoughts drifting to the past or flashing forward to something that might be. Something we need to do.

And so we put forward this sentiment. We like to think it stands for something reflective of this Plum Pretty Sugar brand also. That in the time spent wearing something beautiful while lounging and relaxing. Perhaps alone, perhaps with a partner. That in those moments you feel yourself there and then. This beautiful life at hand.

Whisper Soft

{ via }

There is a hum around and about our Plum Pretty Sugar offices. A sort of gradual lull that rises and falls. Like white noise but interspersed with happiness and excited tones. It's like a melody or sometimes even a chorus.  About something really special we're almost ready to share. Soon. Something thrilling!

Mr. Haslam

{ via 1 // 2 // 3}

Nicky Haslam has long been a favorite interior designer at this Plum Pretty Sugar brand. Being born in England, Our Founder and Creative Director, Charlotte, has a true affinity for his British elegance and sensibility. His high end designs and furnishings seem to combine a sense of wit and humor against a backdrop of grace and tradition, a blend always has us begging for more.

Mr Haslam is an artist, a blogger and an all-around man of true talent. We couldn't resist bringing forward one of his sun room designs and setting it alongside our Swish Skirt Robe from our Castelbel & Trumpet collection. The color combination, the trellis and the refinement of it all makes us long for lounging wearing our robe!

We hope you'll spend some time adoring Mr. Haslam's work and perhaps dreaming like we do of his rooms spent in Plum Pretty Sugar.
